Artist Biography

Kristina

Kristina is a displaying member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, the Newnan-Coweta Art Association, and a Juried Member of the Atlanta Artists Center. Kris' passion for Watercolor shows in her work with rich colors and bold shapes arranged into exciting compositions. Kris says "The translucent character of watercolor allows the artist freedom to be creative like no other medium".

Influenced by the Impressionist period, particularly Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet, her work takes on a unique and sometimes off beat feeling. She combines techniques and various styles going from controlled realism to loose color and suggested images.

Her approach to painting is eclectic, sometimes using very traditional method wet-into wet passages set off with hard edges glazed on areas to pull out shapes. She also uses mono printing, watercolor crayons, watercolor pencils, metallic watercolors, ink, transparent liquid colors and opaque gouache.
